What the Advocate left out:::::Darien Boy's Varsity soccer
The only senior who has never gotten a penalty in his 14 years of playing was Graham Christennsen. Not a yellow card, like 99% of all players have for minor to major penalties. Not a redcard , which 1% of all players get. Immediate and complete ejection from the game.
Darien was up 2-1 w/a few seconds on the clock against Staples in FCIAC playoffs. The ball was in the air and both Staple's goalie and Christensen went up for the ball. The ball was knocked out of bounds by the goalie and the 2 players fell, Christensen on top. It was clearly unintentional. Then the goalie throws a few punches, as Christensen is trying to get up and walk away. Christensen is twice as big, but doesn't get into cheap fights or hits. Then a couple of Staples players confront him and again he pushes them away as if to say "stop....I don't want an altercation".
The result Christensen gets a RED CARD....5 Staples goons get yellow, and Staples wins. The Advocate reports the Darien team as "upset minded".
Darien had a great chance of finishing better than they have in the past few years.
UPSET MINDED? YEAH, YA THINK???? How about getting refs who see the game and can run the length of the field. There are 2 linesmen and a Ref? There is no excuse for this kind of crap in high school.
