After a 5.7 percent tax increase last year, the Darien Board of Selectmen is on course to approve a spending plan that will result in a much slower growth in town spending in the coming year. Barring any further last-minute adjustments, the Board of Selectmen in Darien will recommend an operating budget of $31.2 million, cutting about $2 million out of the budget and keeping an increase to 0.77 percent in the 2015-2016 spending plan.
