Kevin Wandzilak, a 33-year-old Darien man, was charged with threatening a friend's 70-year-old mother with a knife. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy declared victory over his Republican opponent Tom Foley in a post-midnight speech in Hartford even though the final votes hadn't come in from all across Connecticut.
