On Wednesday, Darien police stood by in a federal courtroom as Anthony Sabato , a long-time "person of interest" in the unsolved killing of Darien Police Officer Kenneth Bateman in spring 1981, sat quietly facing unrelated drug and gun charges half a lifetime later.
